Give Them A Hand!

Working in the forest, and stream, is a great way to meet people and stay in shape! Photos by W. Snyder and S. Read

Over the past 12 months 46 Stoney Creek Environment Committee members accumulated an impressive combined total of 1,055 volunteer hours protecting, preserving and enhancing Stoney Creek’s urban forest and salmon bearing stream.

They participated in activities such as:

InvertebrateĀ  Surveys – to monitor the health of the creek

Invasive Plant Removal – to make sure plants, native to the area, have room to grow

Watering Sessions – to give the new native plantings some TLC so they have the best possible chance of survival – especially during Burnaby’s hot, dry summer

Way to go team!
