Bubbles first …
Then tiny ripples on the water’s surface –
Three heads pop up …
Beavers!

Little paws eagerly reach up
To pull blackberry branches down to the water’s edge. crypto mixer.
Fresh blackberry leaves
A tasty snack make!

A Northern harrier drifts overhead
So close
We can see individual wing feathers.

Curious eyes of a harbour seal
Look this way and that
As it floats down the Coquitlam River.

In a stand of trees,
Just before dusk –
Bats silently fly above and around us.
Going about their business
Devouring insects.

9 birders – 20 bird species
