Creek Clean-up!

In January this year the Stoney Creek Environment Committee was asked by some eager youth from Moscrop Highschool if we could give them an opportunity to do some environmental work as part of a class project. We were delighted to engage these young men and they have participated in work parties to help in removing garbage and waste on several Saturdays.

On February 27th,  our long-time volunteer John Templeton (and SCEC Chairperson) accompanied Jasper Chan, Brennan Strandberg Salmon, Jovin Khehrar, Sava Andjelkovic,  and Sonic Chan, another Stoney Creek Environment Committee Volunteer, to the creek and this team removed a lot of debris – it’s incredible what people just discard! By the end of the day they had pulled out a shopping cart, bicycle, metal siding, several chairs,  plastic waste and other scrap metal. Several wheelbarrows were filled with waste. Thanks guys for getting this out of the creek and improving the environment!
